Day 2

30 Day Lolita Challenge

Day 2: 10 things you love in lolita.

I kind of smooshed some of my loves in my Day 1 post but I will try to add some new things since there are well over 10 things I love about lolita! ☆彡

1. Getting to dress in a way that makes me happy. There is something about getting to wear the things and colors I love that really brightens up my day and overall makes me feel happy and excited!

2. Angelic Pretty. I also adore Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Emily Temple Cute, but Angelic Pretty was the first brand that really made me fall hardcore into the fashion. I love so many of their dresses, accessories, and novelty items. ♥ I also really love their Brand Concept:

3. Pastels and soft colors. I really, really love dresses with soft colors, something about them just makes me feel happy! Even if I ever stop having pastels as the main focus of my wardrobe, I will always love and appreciate them. (I do love a number of dresses that have stronger pops of colors or darker colorways, but softer colors are sort of like my default preference ehe)

4. Traditional. Is there anything more nostalgic? I remember first seeing old school coordinates when reading my friends Gothic Lolita Bibles or Kera magazines at Kinokunya~ (The first lolita dress I ever wore was traditional too, leant to me by a kind friend to try out the fashion!) From the lovely solid (or tartan!) fabrics in beautiful cuts with gorgeous lace to ruffle knee socks, I simply can never get enough. And of course, after watching Shimotsuma Story, it was impossible to not fall in love with Momoko's Heart Apron coord or her Hawase Doll op!

5. Prints. There are many dresses without prints I adore, but generally prints are what I fall in love with. ♥ The first time I saw a dress with a border print, I thought it was so unique and interesting, plus all the little print details were amazing~ I don't know why wearing prints of things I like makes me so happy, it just really does! I particularly like border prints and my favorite themes are animal prints (specifically bunnies!) and food prints~!

6. Cute shaped bags. I often use them with regular clothing too and it really brightens up by day toting around crazy shaped bags with me! Usakumya, Lyrical Bunny and the Honey Cake bag are probably by top favorites.

7. Having something to look forward to. It gives me a warm fuzzy feelings when something is on the way to me in the mail or when teaser photos of a new release come out! Although sometimes it is very hard to wait!

8. Lolita-inspired art and photography. I admired Imai Kira nearly as long as I loved the fashion and she was a huge inspiration for getting into the fashion more! But I also love all works of art involving lolita fashion, especially Maki from Angelic Pretty's art! There are so many wonderful artists who draw either existing dresses or even create their own and it is really inspiring. Also, seeing pictures of how other lolitas put together their coords, in magazines and online gives me tons of inspiration. I mainly see pictures on Tumblr and Instagram and it really brightens my day!

9. Going out all dressed up and taking outfit snaps. I don't typically wear really busy outfits when by myself but I love dressing up more when I am going out with my friends and partner! Wearing such intricate outfits makes going out more special. Even if a day is not going so great, dressing up can make it at least a bit better❤ I also really enjoy taking outfit snaps and being able to look back and see past coords, it's a small form of accomplishment!

10. Last but most importantly, meeting and befriending other lolitas! I have a small but treasured group of friends who love the fashion and since moving to a new area, I have been meeting more and more! Forming friendships with people who are also passionate about the fashion is a lot of fun, especially when so many new things are happening all the time! It's a lot of fun to chat about everything encompassing the fashion as well as being supportive of one another, not to mention watching our styles evolve!
