Day 4 : 10 different kinds of food you like
Oh gosh, what a way for me to prattle on about one of my favorite topics, good food! These are in no particular order but I tried to organize them from sweet to savory~!
1. Belgium Waffles
My favorite go-to for a fancy breakfast or brunch always incorporates Belgium waffles! My family taught me how to make them from scratch ages ago (we mainly had them during Christmas) and I still use their recipe to date.
It is my absolute favorite comfort food especially with loads of fresh fruit on top!
2. Fresh Fruit
And speaking of, is there anything better?? I especially love strawberries, raspberries, peach, nectarine, and blueberries. Strawberries are also one of my favorite motifs in EGL
3. Ice Cream
This is probably my all time favorite dessert ever that I always love! Scooped ice cream, parfaits, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, ice cream cake even... it's just always delicious!
I l think fresh homemade strawberry is my top favorite, but I also love anything with chocolate and plain frozen yogurt too! I am a bit particular as I don't like it super sugary though, so any recipe that allows the natural flavors of the ingredients to come through is my preference.
4. Home Baking
I'm cheating a bit with this title but that is only because there are so many that I love, I have to incorporate them!
Nothing is more delicious than home baked goods~ I typically make banana bread, oatmeal chocolate chop cookies, and apple pie from scratch and really love those a lot. I want to eventually get into cake decorating more one day! The best part is how the whole house fills up with a fresh baked goods scent, it's simply the best.
5. Unicorn Crepes
Oh gosh I love unicorn crepes more than I can put into words. I guess they are basically a combination of most of what I listed above so it makes sense...
There are so many places I like but flavor wise I really love Sophie's at Japan Town, San Francisco. Their batter recipe is so good and I swear their vanilla ice cream has some kind of magic in it.
6. Steamed Curry Buns
I could eat this every single day forever
there is a local grocery store near me that makes them fresh daily and oh my gosh they are like a bite of heaven. The dough is so plush and chewy and inside is delicious Japanese curry with carrot. One day when I have more energy I plan to make them, they are just a lot of work!
7. Sushi
Ever since I think I was in 5th grade, I always loved sushi. The balance of rice, fish, and vegetables is just perfection to me! After doing a homestay in Japan and learning how to make sushi with my homestay mom, I have been making it for myself too for many years
Typically I stick to my favorite nigiri and maki options, but I do also love getting sushi at restaurants too♡
8. Dim Sum
Another food I grew up with! I adore dim sum so much, there are just so many delicious options and flavors! I stick to non-meat options but there are still tons of good choices. Plus getting dim sum out is always so comfy and relaxing!
Some of my favorite memories are of having dim sum with family and friends~
9. Tofu Stew & Tofy Kimchi Jjigae
This is my all time favorite comfort food! I don't eat meat so I go with the tofu version and oh my goodness, it is just the best. My partner also learned how to make it from scratch too and it always so delicious and makes me feel so rejuvenated~ I could also legitimately eat it every single day!
10. Tea & Coffee
Okay these things are not technically foods, but I love them both so much I had to include them. I am such a big tea fan and have loved it ever since I was in... high school? Middle school? I can't remember! When I was younger I met a friend who is a tea connoisseur and she taught me so much about tea, it was like a new magical world! So many varieties, categories, and flavors~ One of my all time favorite places to pick up tea is Vital Tea Leaf, which also can ship tea to your home! Their pu'er cakes are my favorite.
Additionally, I am a big fan of coffee too! I typically only drink plain black coffee or cappuccinos with non-dairy. While I love getting it out at small cafés from time to time, we usually make it at home because I love my freshly ground french roast beans so much. I have espresso every morning and typically prefer it when having dessert!
...now I am soooo hungry!
